morning 10/4/09

i threw a major monkey wrench into my life yesterday when i interrupted my sedentary existence by being occupied from mid-morning until late evening. as i'm completely unused to running at that pace, i never found time to sit down to brag about all the calories i consumed.

the morning was good, but i didn't eat before starting my day, which means i was incredibly crabby, so maybe around 1 PM, i had to put this in my face:

as you can infer from the sign that clearly labels it, i ate a garlic cheese twist. you can tell that i'm committing to healthy eating because garlic has very few calories.

i'm pretty sure the flaky dough was the same thing that croissants are made from. i could tell because it left an oil slick on my mouth.

i really enjoyed this because unlike a lot of healthy foods, this didn't taste like ass.

shortly after this, i joined friends for tea, during which i ate a slice of melon, some raspberries and a small piece of fruit tarte. i'm actually not joking about the small part, i really did exercise some restraint because i didn't wish to blow my healthy eating streak.

unfortunately, several hours later, just before stepping into a movie, i was hit with an upset stomach. only it wasn't an upset stomach, it was hunger. since i rarely experience hunger, i didn't know what was happening. once i figured out that i needed food, not pepto, i dashed into the closest health food store and bought this:

obviously, by "health food store," i meant "pizzeria." this was hardly the most delicious pizza i've ever had, but it did the job.

as is indicated by the bite missing from the cape of my pizza, i couldn't wait the seven seconds to take a picture before starting. this has actually been a common theme and something that i've been trying to change; photographing before ravaging. i figure that if i photograph something whole, no one will know how quickly it was finished, but impatiently scarfing before even getting my camera out doesn't trick anyone into believing that i'm a slow eater.

about five hours later, hunger struck again, but i was prepared.

first was this pasta salad:

then came split pea soup with toasted cornbread:

the cornbread was really awesome and was really simple to make. here's the recipe:

1. slice a piece of cornbread
2. toast it

after dinner, i ate a few bites of chocolate mousse and chocolate cinnamon ice cream. seriously, just a few bites. i still did it when no one was looking, because sneak eating takes a while to get over. since i wasn't going to tell a soul, i didn't document it, but i thought about it after and what's the point in keeping a flog if i'm just going to lie about what i eat?

change you can believe in, people, that's my mantra.

Lol, so true about sneak eating! It is a hard to break habit. BTW, everything in this post looks amazing and I'm starting to get hungry. Time to go sneak eat some Hersheys chocolate.
